1.0: A Passion for Politics
We started Hartford Lab LLC in November of 2012. Our mission was to create organic content and to devise strategies for reaching the 16-29 year old demographic in politics. We saw that this group represented the future of our nation and was ineffectively captured. For instance, in the 2012 Presidential Election, 18-29 year olds constituted 21% of eligible voters (46 million). As of 2015, they make up 1/3 of the electorate.

2.0: Our First "Vintage Year"
Politics is cyclical; even more so than the economy. Having had diverse experiences working across the startup and venture ecosystem, we recognized that Hartford Lab had incentive to innovate into a new business line: creatively servicing seed/early-stage technology companies. We considered “business development” and “strategy” as industry-agnostic-- ‘1.0’ had different players, but similar mediums, and was the same game.

2.5: Internal Incubation and Continued Innovation
The Summer of 2015 provided for the birth of ‘The R&D Lab’. While naturally continuing to service our existing portfolio and clientele (and still selectively engaging with new projects), our firm has been actively cultivating and seeding ventures from within our walls.

With everyone we’ve worked with over the years, we’ve logically sequenced their growth across space and time. For Hartford Lab’s own internal strategy, that recently culminated in a Version 3.0: teams from Hartford Lab are serving as the growth incubator for Alkemy’s R&D Division (Entropy Ventures). HLab is creating a network effect across Alkemy’s Innovation Ecosystem, in addition to advising corporate development for EV itself.
